Switchboard upgrades & safety switch installation, Torquay

While there are many houses with old and brittle cables in Torquay and Geelong and across the Surf Coast and the Bellarine Peninsula, there are just as many houses with outdated and potentially dangerous switchboards. Luke Davis Electrical Services helps protect you, your family and your property by providing:

  • switchboard upgrades and installation
  • safety switch installation and testing
  • smoke alarm installation, testing and replacement
  • surge protectors or overvoltage arrestors installation, protecting equipment and appliances from damage caused by voltage surges or spikes.
  • house rewires.

Old switchboards can pose a serious threat. Energy Safe Victoria recommends having your wiring inspected by a qualified electrician to identify if it is more than 30 years old and checking whether your home is fitted with a working safety switch or residual current device (RCD).

Our qualified and licensed Torquay electricians provide switchboard installation and can test, replace or install new safety switches, giving you maximum peace of mind. Please contact us to discuss your needs.

Smoke alarm installation

It’s also important to have smoke alarms fitted throughout your house. Since 1 August 1997, smoke alarm installations must be ‘hard-wired’; that is, connected to the electrical installation of any residential property built after this date. Residential properties built before this date can have 9V battery-operated smoke alarms fitted – however many of these would go unchecked and have flat batteries.

All smoke alarms should be replaced after 10 years. Our domestic electrician can test your current smoke alarms and replace or install brand-new hard-wired and inter-connected smoke alarms.

Interconnected smoke alarms offer maximum safety – if one smoke alarm is activated, all smoke alarms installed will be activated.

Testing and tagging

Luke Davis Electrical Services can perform all your testing and tagging. Testing and tagging involves inspecting and testing all in-service electrical equipment in the workplace, which is important to ensure the personal safety of you and your staff.

We can also install surge protectors as part of switchboard upgrades. These are designed to protect an electrical installation, equipment and appliances from damage due to a voltage surge or spike.
